when were USB ports introduced, trying to figure out if my friend has USB port in his P2 computer

Back in the pentium 166 days.

The only way he wouldn't have USB ports showing on a P2 system, is if he had an AT form factor motherboard. Even then there would still be USB, but they would need cables that plugged into the motherboard and then the ports fit into a open slot in the back of the case.
