Silly question about laptop battery

I know this must sounds silly but I don't know the answer. If I am using a laptop at home or in my office where thereare AC adaptor, I wouldn't use the battery, right?

 
Yes, it will work on the AC adapter alone, but I would not take the battery out if that's what you're thinking of. If you accidently unplug the AC adapter or experience a black-out, the laptop will lose power immediately.
 
It is a laptop. You can use it plugged in or run it on it's battery, your choice. For better performance, depending on your settings, run it on AC. For mobility run it on battery. It's a laptop.
