cop should be arrested. fucking douche.

Throwing snowballs at passing cars in rough conditions could cause an accident though. Kids should be arrested for creating additional road hazards. It's like throwing ketchup and crap from an overpass onto a highway.

it still doesn't give a cop an excuse to brandish a gun at unarmed citizens.

if this dumbfuck doesn't as least get suspended, it really speaks to how worthlessly corrupt law enforcement is these days. they are not above the law.

Not sure if he should have pulled his gun, but then again he stepped out against a possible hostile group.

But I love their argument coming from the crowd that because it was snowing they could throw them.

I would loved to have seen at least one of those douche bags get shot in the gut. That way everyone else can hear his moans as they run for their lives. I'm certain every single one of them was a liberal. All the douche bags anyway. Everyone knows this.

Kids have been pulling shit like that since the beginning of fucking time.

There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE for that cop to stop his car and pull a gun, and NO FUCKING EXCUSE for the uniformed cop to walk up to a crowd of kids with his weapon drawn.

This is the United States of America, for fuck's sake. This isn't Iran. Pay attention to how the cops who showed up later handled it - calm, cool, professional.

They both need to be fired, but the lack of quality people willing to go into law enforcement makes that pretty unlikely. They're both warm bodies with pulses, so they'll do.

It's the kids fault to piss the cop off, and it's the cop's fault for existing (I kid, maybe). I hate cops, but it's not the poor cops fault this time.

I would agree pulling their gun out is not exactly the best way to handle the situation, but at least he did not tase them. Most US cops would have probably done just that.

Lets just hope he was not actually planning to USE the gun, and just pulled it out as a threat. Still not really cool to do that though.

but then again he stepped out against a possible hostile group.

Only hostile when when he brought out the gun. Had he just approached the group and informed them that striking cars with snowballs could be punishable and further incidents would results in fines, they probably would have stopped.

But yeah, pelting car windshields with snowballs in bad conditions is really fucking irresponsible in the first place.

Before starting out on an emo rant maybe you should arm yourself with the facts. The uniformed officer was responding to a "man with a gun" call which is why he had his weapon drawn. As soon he identified the guy with the gun as a detective he holstered his weapon.

While I agree you shouldn't be throwing snowballs at passing vehicles because it could cause an accident (especially in an intersection), there was absolutely no reason for the cop to pull his gun. If he had just grabbed his badge instead (though maybe he didn't have it? Seems odd) and calmly informed the crowd of WHY they shouldn't be doing what they were doing, the whole thing likely would have never gotten out of hand. Alternatively, he could have just radioed in for some patrols to come by to take care of the situation and just kept on his not-so-merry way. I can't blame the students for their reaction because he basically incited them to start chanting and calling him a pig.

really? think so?

If the crowd is collectively that fucking stupid they don't deserve the respect to be told it's not the right thing to do. Everyone in that crowd appeared to be over the age of 18, not a group of 5 year old children.

They should have been hit with chlorine gas.

Any moron in that crowd could have shoved a rock in the middle of a snow ball making it considerably more hazardous....showing the weapon made people second guess what they were doing....to bad that's what it took.

It's just a guy with a complex trying to assert his authority and self assigned position of dominance over "normal" people. I had a uniform cop (who was arresting me at the time lol) tell me it was unfortunate because the guys in the black and whites are mostly decent guys, but the detectives are the real assholes with a chip on their shoulder.

I have an open Class A possession charge, the detective who made the arrest claimed a confidential informant told him I bought heroin/coke, which I did. BUT the guy is notorious for making shit up to arrest people, and that detective is now being indicted for stealing a phone from an arrestee so he could threaten physical violence on an ex-girlfriend. Just goes to show there are a lot of pieces of shit out there who can make up whatever they want and get away with it. My charges are getting dropped at least :p

With that arguement, tell me your opinion of this: http://www.break.com/usercontent/2009/2/Riot-Police-vs-Gangbangers-Snowball-Fight-670016.html Are you implying that in the same conditions, cops should not be able to brandish weapons? The original video could very easily have gotten out of control and car run into the crowd if they couldn't see because of the snowball hurled at their windshield. The cop could also have been hurt by ice or debris in the snowball.

Yes this is the United States of America, we like to protect our citizens. If you don't like it, grow up.
