Last night at work, i finished my meal and when a Muslim who works with me saw that, he said that i should thank God. I asked him why he thinks that God exists, and he said that God exists because the Koran says so. When i asked why he thinks that the Koran is telling the truth, he said because it was written from God's words. He went on to ask me why i think Jesus exists, and i told him that i don't. He said that neither does he. Surprised, i asked him why. He said that the Koran says God has no family. I asked him what the Koran has to do with Christianity, and he said that Allah is the only true God and that all other religions, he even listed them, are pegan, Buddhism even more than others. Silly Muslim.

well, i'd say he's silly just for telling you that you should thank god. he should know by now that most people aren't going to convert just because you tell them to.

A textbook case of circular logic.

or perhaps your just as close minded.

In what way? Or are you just annoyed that you have nothing to defend the silly muslim's actions with?

I think religion is just a pantload anyway. None of it can be proven, all the "facts" come from books. The bible is full of contradictions of it's own wording, not to mention the fact that it has been re-written and condensed and edited so many times, that who (among the average populous) can say how much of the original text remains? What about the dead sea scrolls? Some of them match exactly what is told in the bible, some of them not at all, and they are supposedly holy writings also.

I dunno, religion gives me a headache. It's supporters seem to rely on logic which totally escapes me.

He can't really be a Muslim if he doesn't believe Jesus existed. Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet.

Bugsy, yeah but their wonderfully logical extrapolations are all based on an unproven, and often hilariously illogical premise.

Muslims are no different from Jehovah Witnesses. THey follow blindly, without ever asking any question.

BTW, a vietnam veteran on my block just re-named himself 'Allah.'

I am sure he was just looking out for your best interest. Afterall, it is obvious that your soul is in peril.

I think you can probably get a suite with each room reprepsenting a different hell. But that is extra for sure.

Faith is called 'faith' because it is supposed to be something you should believe. Not just look for proof and evidence in every step. God is supposed to be divine. Religion is a faith. Now, to those who keep asking for proof or evidence regarding religion, just look closer to something more human like the government. How many times do they show proof or evidence of reason for action. How many times do they withhold it in the name of "national security"?

The guy was probably just trying to help you get closer to heaven, in his perception anyway. He probably wasn't trying to convert you. Judaism, Christianity and Islam share their roots in an Abrahamic origin. In effect, you can say they are revisions of the same religion. That is why I chose to become a Muslim rather than a Christian or a Jew. It is the final religion and is more pure than the two predecessors. The reason you're colleague said that buddhism is less of a religion is because that they do not follow a devine god but a former king I think. Basically someone human.

All muslims aren't fanatics. Islam isn't like christianity 500 years ago. Back then, christianity was officially massacring millions of people worldwide in the name of religion. The ones that are killing in the name of islam, are just a minority with a clouded view, often being controlled by a handful of people at the top with personal agenda. And most of the people that participate in the killing are from a economically and socially deprived region and usually hate USA because they meddle in those areas. Before it was the Communist nations in south-east asia that despised America, because it meddled in those regions. Also some south and central american regions. So, they actually are not killing for Islam but all have their own reasons, which would not hold as much water to the outside world. There must be a reason why us folks in the UK and in Europe don't feel as threatened as americans by these guys.

Many muslims do refuse to ask questions and explanations, mainly because they lack education. They probably fear the guy preaching to them more than god. They don't follow what the Qur'an says but what their preacher says the Qur'an says.

Sadly, this is what many Muslims are taught.
