Silly Etiquette Question: Walk a Female friend to her door?

I felt incredibly stupid earlier tonight (yes, it was an early-ending evening) when put in this situation. I to a basketball game with a female friend (nothing more than a friend), and dropping her off at her house, I wasn't sure whether it would be proper for me to walk her to her door or if that's just a "boyfriend" thing. The situation was made more awkward by the fact that we had just been joking about the rumors flying about her and I.

I want to be a gentlemen, yet I don't know if this is the proper thing to do if you're just friends?

Walk her to the door, split wide open anyone who attempts to accost her until then ;)
Besides, one of you probably wants the other.

LOL! You might be right about that second part. :D

Also, you do this for the same reason you hold open doors for her, it is the proper thing to do.

I guess it's just impossible for a guy and a girl to be friends huh?

Not if the guy isn't attracted to the girl.

If he is, then it is nearly impossible, yes. Why? Because for all his denials, he wants to get into her pants.

Not impossible, I suppose, just rare.

I don't know about that... I mean if it's dark or something, sure. But I have some really close plutonic (sp?) female friends, and when I drop them off, I'll wait till they get in, but I don't walk them to the door. I think if you two are really just friends, there is a point where you don't have to be a "gentleman" all the time.

Walking her to her door...Crimzon brought up a good point, what type of layout was this? Like, did you walk somewhere, and then you walked her back, or did you drive somewhere then drove her back? If I drove a friend home, I probably wouldn't get out of the car to walk her to the door, I'd just see that she got inside okay. If we had been walking already, then it's to the door. I almost forgot what HS was like, since at college, everything's reached by foot. :) (And I'd like to think I have some very good manners...walking her from the car to the door just seems a little extreme)

There is never anything wrong by being too courteous/chivalrous. As long as you aren't doing it to make a move or anything like that any girl will appreciate it...and tell her friends. ;)

I always open the door to my girl friends. I offer my seat to the elderly when on the bus or underground. Just do it no harm in it.

Walk her to the door then say bye.

No.

Guys, I really mean it, we're just friends. If you must know, she was in a relationship with another friend of mine for close to two years, so even if I was interested, I wouldn't be making a move.

I don't guess it would hurt. But I wouldn't do it. It just seems silly. But then again, I don't like maintaining traditions just for traditions sake.
