Maybe I'm missing something.

Our 401k vesting schedule says:
Year # - % Vested
Year 0 - 0%
Year 1 - 0%
Year 2 - 20%
Year 3 - 40%
Year 4 - 60%
Year 5 - 80%
Year 6 - 100%
Year 7 - 100%

Let's say I was hired 09/01/2006

I'm about to hit my 3rd anniversary. My 401k account says 0% vested. I have asked about this a couple times and they really don't know, but told me to call the servicer. Is the year # just misleading? After 2 years should I have been 20% or 0% vested?

What about on my 3 year anniversary?

read the employee manual. Is vesting in the current year that the date of anniversary occurs or the following? Also is hire date your vesting date?

When were you actually hired, seriously give us the real info to work with.....

assuming 9/1/06 I'd say the way it works is

-> 9/1/07 or 1/1/08 0%
-> 9/1/08 or 1/1/09 0%
-> 9/1/09 or 1/1/10 20%

You more than likely are using the 1/1 dates.

maybe your company doesn't match anything the first 6months-1yr, your own money should be 100% vested at all time.

richard - yes, my contributions are 100% vested at all times.

alkemyst - I gave the real info ;) ... hire date is vesting date ... this is what HR person said:

You were hired on 9/1/2006 and were eligible to participate in the plan on 4/1/07. Based on the table below, it looks like you?ll be 20% vested on 9/1/09 if that Year 0 counts as the first year. I?m fairly certain that?s how it works but feel free to call them to make sure.
