Silicone Remover?

Is there any chemical used to remove silicone off circuit boards. I had a retail PIII 650 Slot 1 that died and since it was on a pelt I used silicone on the back end. Now I need warranty so the silicone must go. Would prefer a product available in Canada. Thanks for any response.
 
do you mean thermal grease?

use something to remove the excess like a tissue or something. and you should be able to use rubbing alcohol to remove the rest.
 
Did you overclock your CPU? Overclocking = void warranty. Intel can tell if you've overclocked it. If you're returning it to the retailer, I hope they fall for it. If what I just said makes you feel weary, go to CompUSA and buy a brand new one (a better one hehe) then swap 'em. I think their return policy of a 15% restocking applies to opened software and printers with cartriges installed. I don't know where you're from, but here in California most of the pple who work there are high school students and they don't know sh** about computers.

WD-40 works very well and removes it very quickly and thoroughly. After you use it, go over with alcohol.
