Silicon Valley has a Walmart?

Okay, so I'm from the midwest visiting the valley for a conference this week. I go to the Walmart in Mountain View and I was quite surprised. Unlike the posh shops and quaint little coffee houses around Stanford, it looked like what I'd expect at an airport in the far-east. Lots of Asians and some Hispanics. I'm not saying this in a derogatory way, just markedly different than the shops a few hundred yards away, and nothing like what I'm used to in my part of the country.

The people were friendly and I was happy to get what I needed. So far this week I've eaten in an Indian, Persian, African and Greek restaurant. I love the cultural diversity here, and I plan to hike up to Berkeley today.

Cheers. :)

I can't believe the bandwagon riders who bash Wal-Mart have not arrived proclaiming Target superior.

Silicon Valley, for all it's wealth, has a large number of poor people who struggle to get by daily.
The super-high cost of housing makes it difficult for people to afford housing there, and that eats up a huge amount of their income.
I guess, even though I despise Wally-World and their corporate thuggery, I can't blame them for shopping there to try to save a bit of $$$.
Wally-World exists because of poor folks...
