Silicon Image ATA Controller 3112

I have an 8KNXP that I am unable to update the 3112 driver. Updating the driver either from Microsoft (Silicon Image Storage software) or from the Gigabyte supplied drivers disk, the system locks up while loading XP with SP1. To recover I have to restore from the last known good image. I also have an unknow driver for the Mass Storage Controller in the device drivers that I cannot update either. Does anyone have any ideas?

I also ran into the problem of having one WD Raptor SATA drive and an IDE drive that will not work. I finally pulled the IDE drive and put an Adaptec 29160 SCSI contoller in with 4 Fujitsu 18 gig SCSI drives and everything works great.

My system - Intel 2.8c
1 Gig 400 DDR ECC
BIOS F6a
1 WD Raptor SATA
4 Fujitsu 18 Gig SCSI
ASUS V5920 Video

Initially I had a major problem in getting XP to load, but with the new BIOS from Gigabyte and getting the drives assigned correctly then XP finally loaded.
