SilentX Fans

SilenX iXtrema Quiet Fans feature the best noise-to-airflow ratio of any PC case fan and are designed for optimal cooling performance. Hybrid bearings reduce weight and noise and the forward-swept blade design maximizes airflow. Instead of using traditional weighted mounting screws (also included), iXtrema Quiet Fans are the only ones to include silicone composite mounts to dampen vibration noise. Each fan also includes a 3- to 4-pin converter to power your fan from your PC's power supply or motherboard.

now my question is, are these ratings the same that are used with panaflows as far as distance from the fan and what not like that....

I have 3 of them...2 120's and an 80mm I put in my pc power&cooling psu. They are VERY quiet but their specs are NOT accurate. IMO the cfm specs are more inaccurate than their dba specs. They use inline resistors to downvolt the fans...nothing special...but their bearing technology is similiar to that of the Pannies (atleast according to them). I do not believe their ratings are the same used by any other manufacturer. I have emailed them twice asking for their testing methodologies and they refuse to reply 🙁 If ya got the money and you can accept a little lower cfm's than what Silenx states then you will not be dissapointed with the dba levels. Very quiet. If your not into giving Silenx a go because of the high price, go Yate/Nexus unless you need a lot of airflow. IMO Nexus uses the most accurate and honest dba testing that I know of.

I was not happy with the 2 92's I bought - very quiet but they would not keep my dual XP-M's below 50...

SilentX is greatly disliked among much of the SilentPCReview community because they are notorous for having inaccurate specs. like JBDan said, they don't move as much air as they claim. Same goes for Thermaltake.

they're not bad fans, but they definitely don't meet their supposed specs and they seem to charge quite a premium on those BS specs.

agreed, Nexus fans are great and actually have believeable specs.
