Building a brand new PC soon and I want it as quiet as possible. It'll be an Athlon XP 1700+ or 1800+ without any o/c save for the graphics card (GF4 Ti4200). Primary power uses: gaming and video processing. Secondary uses: net surfing and homework.
So wich is better, Enermax *Whisper* or Antec Truepower in the 350W (±10%) range?
From what I've read in other threads, the Antec is quieter but the airflow can drop significantly when at low load and makes everything else heat up.
Since my PC is in the bedroom, it really needs to be quiet when it's beddy time. My current PC is too loud and I need earplugs to sleep when it needs to run all night.
As a comparison of what I find to be a tolerable noise level, my VCR, wich is slightly louder than average, is quite acceptable when it records those late night shows (and is also in the bedroom). Too bad I don't know how many Dbs it has.
