SILENT power supply

I am in dire need of an absolutely silent power supply that is AMD approved and rated at 300 watts.

I'm talking about completely silent. Not something "whisper" loud like the Enermax Whisper PSUs, but something completely quiet like the QuietPC.com PSU. Something you cannot hear. I need something that is quiet like an 80mm panaflo l1a, something that is no louder than 26 DBA.

Does anyone know a PSU that meets these criteria? Something that is inaudable and still a good PSU? I would get the 300 watt QuietPC PSU, but I don't believe the 300 watt version is in a North American format. The QuietPC PSU is also rather expensive. Is there something cheaper that is equally silent?

I am also not averse to purchasing a whole new case/PSU combo. If you know of any mid-tower cases bundled with SILENT power supplies, please recommend them.

Thanks for your help.

If you willing to cash out heavy dough look into PCP&C Silencer Power Supplies. Above the quality of Enermax able to keep a more consistant voltage. They are quieter only incorperating 1 20db fan, Enermax (92=27db, 80=18db depending on temprature -VE).

As for quiet PC PSU, dunno who makes em but they do look rather generic and cheap lookin, you can find most of the stuff they sell for more then half the price.

You could try a Leadman Powmax 300W.. though I wouldn't recommend it for above a Athlon gig.. Has two 80mm BB fans that about 20db each.. although I'd go with the PC Power & Cooling if you're building anything you're gonna overclock..

I have the Enermax 465 VE in one of my other comps it is noticably louder. Most of the excess noise is caused by obsturctions, stuff in the airpath, but the actual fan being used is a 20db / 28cfm fan, Silencer Fan. If you were to open it up some that should cut noise quite a bit. The enermax is actully capable of being quieter cause of its more open 2 fan design, if you were to switch out those fans to something less then < 22db, but then that could screw up the output of the powersupply cause of excess heatsink and shorten its lifespan. Probably could do the same with the PCP&C unit cut open the internal grill and try and tie down whatever you can inside, and let it flow as easy as possible without the cooling dangers, and on the upside better cooling for you PS and more air being pulled through your case.

BTW i also have the Silencer 235 along with the 275, the 235 is dead silent, compared to the 275. They both use the same exhaust fans, the 235 must have alot less inside.
