Silent Power Supply Question.....

I'm working on a little project and I would like to keep this thing ultra-silent...ie. no fans! So I was thinking about a power supply with an external AC/DC adapter, with just a DC/DC converter board in the box....with all the typical ATX outputs of course! I'm not sure where to find this. I don't think the external adapter is a big deal, but where can I get the internal board, with all the ATX trimmings?

Thanks in Advance.

Well you have two choices. You can go with a fanless ATX power supply, or with a notebook type setup. Tk-Power (I forget their US distributor's name) has two fanless power supplies (up to 300W I think), but I'm sure they get hot. They are also expensive (around $100 or more for their lower wattage power supply). You can also get what you're thinking of, but those will only produce less than 100W. I bought a VIA ITX motherboard with the Cupid 2677 case. The 533 Eden is fanless (although mine has been hot for some reason, it's being exchanged), and the 800 has a fan on it. The Cupid 2677 (the version with a DC power supply) has an external AC->DC converter that is rated at 55W I believe, and an internal DC->DC converter. It has 1 4 pin plug and 2 floppy style plugs, but it can't keep many peripherals running. You can get the ITX MB and case at idotpc.com for $170 (just be sure to ask for the DC version of the case).
