Hey everyone,

I am building a new dual opteron (285) system and I am trying to minimize the db level. Aside from water cooling, what is the best option?

thanks!

I'm guessing 2 Thermalright si-120's wont fit? You'd probably need a smaller heatsink with a 92mm fan, so something like the xp-90 with a low speed fan should provide decent cooling and minimal noise.

PM Indyboy2. Invite him into your thread. He runs 2x 265 Opterons w/XP-90s on a
SuperMicro H8DCE board. I know because we were PMing about the Akasa Elipse 62 case.

The Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 is very small and cools 10% better than stock. It's the quietest cooler on the market right now

If you have space, drop in two Si-120s and put Nexus fans on all of them. Guaranteed silent or your money back :p.

heh, I remember THAT experiment. but it was vegetable oil. Silent indeed, but stinky.... 'twas good for a laugh though.
