Silent motherboards for socket 939

Hello,

I'm trying to find a quiet (preferably fanless) motherboard for an AMD 64 x2 4200+.

The only one I've found that they're still selling seems to be the Asrock 939Dual-SATA2
http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2524.

I have no idea about this brand or this type of motherboard, I don't know if it's any good either.

Are there any other NON-sli boards? I'm planning on putting only one graphics card on the board (XFX Geforce 7900GPX), so I have no need for it nor want to pay for it (since they are $$ compared to non-sli boards)

Thanks !

Abit AN8 Ultra if you can find one (SLI version is $94 incl shipping at Newegg)
Abit KN8 SLI (yes, SLI but it isn't dear)

Gigabyte do GA-K8N Ultra-9 & an mATX board K8NMF-9

GA-K8NE. but it's using a 'slow' Nforce4, not really what i want either.

All nforce4 chipset are equally fast. If you are talking about the HT bus being at 4X instead of 5x, then even a 3x, it is still fast enough...

I had the k8nf-9 and it was a fast, stable and problem free board. It is still one in my friend's computer.

Just by thinking that bigger number is better, then you'll miss a really good board.. But hey! Isn't what marketting is for.. selling big numbers?

If you don't mind having a smaller motherboard (microatx) you can go with the Nforce 6100 or 6150. Lots of them are passively cooled & have one PCIEx16 slot (plus integrated video). These boards seem to perform at the same level as normal Nforce4 chipsets when equipped with decent video cards.

In my experience, most cases have mounting points for microatx, but you better CHECK your case first!

Check out the huge thread on the MSI 6150:

check newegg rite now, they have the abit an8 sli for 100.00.quite a good deal for that board.its fanless and it sold a few months ago for 140.00.its been discontinued by abit now but not to bad a board for the money.another option is get the asus a8n-e and mount a zalman heatsink on it and youll run temps of 38-45c and youll have the best all around non sli board made.its layout is perfect and bios is mature.if you want you can do what i did and cut the taller fins off the zalman so the top of the heatsink is even and mount a 10x40mm led fan on top of it.it runs 35-40c and so quiet you cant hear the tiny fan.if the fan ever goes out you can change the fan without removing the heatsink, the fan just screws on to the heatsink.and best of all no interfearence with the video card.ck it out as this is one fine board.it does everything well.it o/clocks well and is rock solid.
