One that you could play games on your laptop in class and not get kicked out.

LOL!! The trackpoint on my laptop doesn't make that loud of a clicking noise. I would assume that your laptop is new. I guess it just takes some time to break in...just play more in class!! 😛 Hope this helps.
 
Well I haven't got it yet.
I am looking at Dells right now.
I figured you would want an external optical mouse for FPS shooters games and such.
Even Diablo 2, wouldn't it be easier if I had one?
Or am I wrong?
 
After hearing one of the touchpads of a Sharp laptop, I would say stay away from those...because those buttons will click louder than your desktop mouse. FPS would definitely be easier to play with an external mouse, but that's if your laptop can display enough FPS (Geforce2 Go or ATI Mobility should do that good enough). Some people will get used the trackpoint really quick, while others will have a hard time learning it...I guess you'll just have to see for yourself. If that doesn't work, you can always get that external mouse.
 
Well I just ordered an Dell Inspiron 8100 and it ships Monday and I am already in Texas so it should come quick. It has a 32mb GeForce2Go, but I guess I will just have to wait and see like you said to see whether it is comfortable to play as is.
 
I think most of the high end Dell laptops come with both the touchpad and the pointing stick...Enjoy!! and try to not get caught in class 😛
 
Atrail, let me know what you 8100 sounds like, my 4000's buttons are quite loud. It's failty new, got it in September.
 
You might be able to buy a cheapy optical mouse, rip it open, and replace the actual buttons with something like those carbon pads that are used in some keyboards or remote controls. That should make the mouse quite silent.
What class might this be? 😉
