I only played Silent Hill 2 on PS2 or whatever. Odd game, not really scary... although I was so confused I didn't know how to beat it and didn't get very far.

It depends who you ask.

One theory is that Silent Hill was actually purgatory, and everyone there was already dead. The mother/daughter are actually in their own purgatory now, while all the others were claimed by Hell.
