silent hill

looks like the plot is directly based off of silent hill 1. they got the imagery right and all... i hope they can get the same bone chilling atmosphere. the ghost girl is overused and doesnt quite do it for me. i hope they put in the shaky head zombies. those guys are freaky.

Christopher Gans is a good director (he did Brotherhood of the Wolf amoung other things) which certainly gives it a one up on most video game to movie translations (Uwe Boll, Paul Anderson, etc..) Silent Hill had such great atmosphere it lends itself well to the big screen, so I'm certainly optimistic after seeing this trailer.

Eh, I dunno.

'Silent Hill' never had anything to do with Hell. It was just twisted in a way quite unpleasant to visitors. Evil from time to time, true, but....not HELL.

Which looks like what they are going to do with this one. What is it with Hollywood's obsession with "Hell"? Why can't something just be EVIL outside of a religious allegorical metaphor for suffering? Or do they worry audiences might not be bright enough to follow that?

Looks pretty good! April release date, I'll go see it in the theatre. Would be a good movie to go on a date for 🙂

looks like it might just be the first videogame movie that wins over both movie fans AND gamers. it looks brilliant 😀
now, maybe this will inspire other big directors to get into the videogame translation business
cuz um... we need a big director to plead with valve to help make a movie thats based off the half life universe 🙂

well see the problem with that, is who's saying its hell? The character. Thats realistic, any normal person is going to relate evil that's embodied in creepy creatures, to being something straight out of hell, which is natural. hell doesn't really have to do so much with religion, as it does a way of our mind helping things that dont make sense, such as in the case of evil, to make sense. but the trailer only said stuff about evil, one of the characters just brought it up.
remember, konami and sony are on board with this movie so the movie is going to flow like konami wants. the flow will match what konami has done with the games, as close as possible and in a way that wont bore audiences and meet time restraints for a normal movie.

if u get Media Center Classic with the Quicktime replacement addin, you can click the defunct-like buttons and it will offer you the ability to either play or download. you dont have to play it in media center classic, but it gives the ability to rename the file to .hdmov, which makes it playable in Windows Media Player too 🙂
