There's just no way you can take it seriously, the acting is that bad. Half the audience just laughed at some of the (meant to be) "serious" lines.
Well what do you want? Your assessment of the movie pretty much somes up all action & horror movies out there. And the audience does play a huge role in whether you enjoy or hate a movie. If you can look past a few "bad" lines, the movie is very good.
It's like I used to see action movies with a certain few friends, who wen't just to laugh at everything. I thus hated going to the movies, hated the pictures, thought they were horrible. But years later I'd catch them on tv at home, and realized they are actually pretty good - as long as you don't have two people next to you laughing the whole time.
Sheesh, the producers had to finish a movie. They didn't take 4 hours to develop the characters, make their lines & reactions true to life, whatever. They needed to advance the story line and keep the characters on the move. So if a few bad lines are required to make the rest of the movie more enjoyable, then so be it, I am able to look past them.
And I do say, there was one thing I was hoping to see but they didn't include... teleportation bathrooms!!

But probably people who hadn't played the games would just laugh their heads off and make the movie even less enjoyable for the others in the theatre...
