I didn't much care for it. It was a good translation from the video game but I just didn't like the sound. I cannot stand movies that only 'scare' you because they suddenly pump out loud noises that have no connection to the actual on-screen activity. It has gotten so bad in horror movies lately that I cannot help but listen for it and get immediately annoyed.

Yah I know. Horror movie snob here at your service. :p

i personally love the movie. i saw it in theaters when it came out, and the day it came out on DVD I went and bought it on impulse. It was worth it though, I really enjoyed the movie.

HN!!!! Thank you for clearing that p for me! The ending had confused me, and since I had never played the videogames, I was even more in the dark. Now the movie makes SO much sense and is even more enjoyable, I think.

**SPOILER***

Really?..

I didn't know the mother, child, and cop were dead in the other dimension...............that partially explains why they were still in blue/grey color mode when the mother and child visited the husband (who was in color).

BUT THEN WHY COULDN'T THE HUSBAND/COPS FIND THEIR BODIES OR THE CRASHED CAR AND MOTORCYLE ON THE ROAD TO SILENT HILL???

Does anyone know if there's a story sequel where they make it out of the ghost world?....

FYI...Silent Hill is not supposed to be in WV. This was a liberty taken by the director/writer. The original story lines have silent Hill in Maine, I believe. And, of course, the original game had a MAN as the main character.

It would have been better if Borimir confronted pyramid face and sword fought him.

I was confused with this movie. I didn't realize until I talked with one of my friends that she had actually died and was in Hell. I was wondering WTF were they in two different dimensions. I didn't view the subtle hints that she was dead as hints, I viewed them as plot holes. It makes more sense now...but I still like Resident Evil more as a video game movie adaptation.

Well it depends. Did you think Hostel was good too?
Cuz if you thought Hostel sucked AND you liked this then I may see it.

And that hotel? It's called the Lister block, a Hamilton landmark (For being a run-down POS). They didn't even bother removing the streetsigns...I used to pass by it every day.

I live in Silent Hill!
Omg better watch your back man... ;)

the original game main character is the husband in the movie. sean bean i think his name is (i usually just call him 006 or boromir :p) they replaced the character with a woman so it can be more emotional i think. a man his size would kick the crap out of everything if he was subjected to this experience. he would confront the pyramid head and saved cybil

That Pyramid head guy is creepy. What is the backstory on him?

SPOILERS HERE!!!

Not much to say about him or where he comes from ..... If you think that an alternate world that exists out of the sheer hatred and anger that a child could bring forth. He is more of a punisher to those who caused her pain. It's all about a sick sense of retribution. More than any kid I know of could dream up.

boring movie!

the last part where the evil girl came up from under ground with all those barb wires...that was the best scene. other than that, not too much more action.

The Descent was a much scarier movie

I watched it expecting to be scared. In the end, the movie did not scare at all. If anything I thought it was just gorey and not really scary

So you did like it then????

all the dead were more like in purgatory. people in the church refused to see the truth, so they were stuck in purgatory too. i guess the devil gave the tortured girl evil powers, but couldn't use them inside the fake church because they never knew the truth or some weird crap (someone elaborate more on this)
and the end? the woman, for her 'good deeds', gets to live in purgatory forever. yay?

oh, and i was hoping i'd get to see some Twin Victims (2-headed babies from SH4) but :(

I don't know if I believe they were dead. I think they were just in another f'ed up dimension. At the start that crazy old lady (bad girl's mom) says something about "only he can open the gate" or something like that.

Plus if they were dead how did people die again?

bad girl still loves mom, so she doesn't 'kill' her

'kill' = finally go to Hell (assuming they were in purgatory) - i dont think anyone from SH deserves to go to Heaven, since they're all guilty of burning a girl alive, except for maybe Rose (the woman), but i doubt bad girl will let anyone go to Heaven so she's stuck in purgatory forever (???)

I actually kinda enjoyed it. It wasn't scary, but had a good story.

....still a little confused on the ending, though.
