I'm looking for a _quiet_ S370 cooler that will work with the CUmine P3's. I'm running dual P3 800's non-OC'd using the boxed HSF's but even they are a little noisier than I'd like. I'm hearing a lot about the golden orbs being quiet, but are they really quieter than the boxed HSF's?

Thanks

I am currently running a CUmine 600E overclocked to 840 and my Alpha PAL6035 keeps it nice and cool (95 degrees Fahrenheit). Normaly this is not a quiet cooler but if you go here and buy it bundeled with a 16.1 dBA Adda fan it is nearly silent. I have a total of 7 fans in my computer (Adda on PAL6035, 4 Panaflo L1A's for case, Antec PSU with fan, and the stock fan on my Prophet II) and I can only hear the computer up to about 6 feet away and even sitting right next to it I would say that it is . The HSF is by far the quietest component of my cooling setup except maybe the PSU. I would also suggest puting the fan on the heatsink label up so that it is sucking air through the heatsink rather than blowing, I think that this is the quietest and most efficient method.

edit: to answer your question about the gorbs....I replaced mine with this PAL6035 and there was a noticable reduction in noise. I actually thought that the GOrb was fairly loud compared with the rest of my system.

I opened up the case and stopped the two fans...that's definitely the cause for much of this noise. Those little Addas look nice, but those Alphas are expensive, especially when you need two of them.

The GOrb definitely fit the inexpensive requirment. But like I said my PAL6035 is noticably quieter than my GOrb wasss.
