Wow, I was just about to return my eVGA 7600GT for that BFG 7600GT OC for the same reasons. Just ordered the VF-700 from the Egg. Reviews look very good and everyone says the install is cake. My video card is easily the noisiest item in my case. Can't stand it!

Ya, it's dead quiet in desktop, but start anything with video (and quality sound), fan starts up. I just gave up on trying to listen attentively through my right ear, so I've pretty much gotten use to my BFG 7600gt. I think ASUS and a few others have passively cooled (stock) 7600gts, don't remember which. Oh, and don't hope about other brands using a quieter fan, I think most are built off the reference board, and use a similar, jet engine, fan.

I put a Zalman VF700Cu on my BFG7600GT. I'm running at full speed and can't hear it. Card is overclocked to 700/1700 and stays below 60 degrees under full load, 42 degrees at idle.

For cards with the small reference cooler, I wonder if the noise could be reduced enough by adjusting their settings with RivaTuner rather than resorting to replacement? My Leadtek is already uber quiet so I have not fiddled with it but actually considered raising the maximum for even more overclocking goodness since the default range is only 31-65%. It would be simple enough to reduce and monitor temps for awhile.

My eVGA 7600GT KO version with the larger heat sink covering the memory chips runs stock at 580/1500, and 44C at idle and makes no detectable noise no matter what load. But then again I don't have my computer next to my ear; it is on the floor under a table next to my right leg.
