Silencing my UPS.

I currently have a APC Back UPS Pro 1100 that is louder than my computer. There are no fans or anything in it, but it has coil buzz that is kind of loud. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Acoustic foam does not seem to do much of anything to get rid of the noise. More solid materials like wood seem to do a better job to block out the noise. I have considered building a box for it, but it would overheat without vents I think. With vents, noise would escape. Anyone have an idea if it would work without vents? What kind of temps are these things able to take? Putting it in a closet may be possible, but would require long extension cords and I don't like running them all over the place.

I don't think it would work w/o vents, there's a regular lead-acid battery inside that thing just like a car battery. It probably needs the vents for the heat and gas to escape. There's a thread about noisey UPSes over at SilentPCReview.com right now, I think it's pretty current.

Thanks, I just read through a bunch of the threads over there. A lot of people mention there UPS makes noise, but no one complains about it too much. No one goes as fas as wanting to silence it either. Maybe mine is louder than others. I will keep thinking.

Do you think this thing would be ok on its side with one vent covered? My computer is in my bedroom not far from my bed. I could put the UPS under my bed which should kill the noise. The UPS will not fit standing up though, but it will on its side.
