I bought two of these cards so I can hook up the 2nd half part of my raid backplane for future expansion but its not detecting any drives. Do I need to install drivers for cards like this under Linux or should it pick it up like the onboard one? I'm using Fedora Core 9.

Also does anyone have experience with the jumper config? I don't understand their instructions. I don't get what they mean by "1-2 close" and stuff. It's really unclear.

Here's a picture of the card:

Since maybe my issue is simply a jumper configuration issue and nothing else.

Any time you add any kind of hardware to a system running Linux you have to install drivers. Especially if its an uncommon item such as your Raid card.

As for those jumpers thats easy. You see that the pins are labled J1, J2 and so on. Well to have J1 and J2 closed means you have a jumper on those 2 pins. That closes the cuircuit those pins are connected to enabling that part of the card.

That's what I figured but if it says "2-3 close" if you notice those would not reach.

So what I'm thinking is I need to move all the jumpers up (towards the SATA Connector) to enable it. It looks like I can't have both the external and internal ports active at same time. Right now the external ports seem to work.
