What are the signs of an overheated video card? Is it only artifacts and game crashes, or will there be a loss in FPS and choppy graphics also? I am asking because I removed my ATI fan and replaced it with a 92 mm fan on a Zalman bracket, and I am noticing that the heatsink is getting quite warm when I am playing games.

Artifacts or no video when severe. I wouldn't think that a noticable loss in FPS would be highly unlikely.

When a heatsink is warm, that means its doing it's job...it's scary when you expect it to be warm and its not.

Takes a little to get used to....active versus passive cooling.

If you download the Omega drivers for your card it has a built in artifact tester....

Or google it.
