Signing up for Uber

I wouldn't trust using the Uber app on Windows phone as it is no longer supported. Definitely bring along your cheap android and rely on that.

My android phones aren't activated. Only work with wifi.

I do suggest that (if you didn't already) you install both Uber and Lyft apps, set up your account for both, add cc etc at your leisure. Not something you want to take your first look at on the day you need it.

If there are no official apps that work anymore I know you can use Ubers website (in a browser on phone, tablet or PC) to get a car not sure about Lyft.

If the app isn't working for me on the day, I'll open a browser and hit Uber's site and sign in and try to set it up that way. If that doesn't work I'll take a taxi. I wonder if there's some way to see if I'm scheduled now for that 12:20PM pickup. I tried to set it up this morning, don't know what the outcome is.

Guess that could work. I'll be in no hurries. It will be about noon and check-in at the hotel isn't guaranteed until 3PM.

(1) Uber or Lyft works just fine on a non-activated device using wifi I've done exactly that a whole bunch of times.

(2) As I said previously Uber for sure will work fine in a web-browser on most devices even if not officially supported.

(3) As others have correctly pointed out you DO NOT need to book Uber/Lyft in advance more then a few minutes most of the time in any major market pretty much 24/7.

(4) If on the other hand you would be more comfortable having your ride locked in, you would be much better served going with a Limo company although it may cost more. If you would like to look into this PM me I'll see if my company has a local affiliate.
