Signing a new lease - What rights and protections do I have?

I live in Ontario. This week I will be signing a new lease on a four bedroom townhouse I share with three other guys. I've been living here for about a eighteen months. What kinds of rights and protections can I expect? For example, could our landlord legally increase our rent? Can she legally ask for first and last?

Cheers.

Well for one you have a right not to sign the lease. So, if there's something in there you disagree with, you can ask them to change it. If they say no (which they have a right to do) then you can choose to walk away.

Otherwise, I'd say you'd need to contact a lawyer if you are concerned about any problems.

Theres almost always a bump up in the rent for a new lease right?
Cant raise the rent while youre in a lease
Unless your landlord isnt concerned with taking every possible cent available.......
think of it as a Cost of Living adjustment 😀

Do us all a favor and don't give more advice, you clearly post just to see yourself speak.

Rent does not always go up. Some places it does, some places for years it may stay the same.

The rent can be raised in a lease if there are stipulations for it.

Are you even supposed to be posting without your mommy around?
