Why is the signature limited to 256 characters? And even more, why can't the server count right? Mine right now has roughly 100-120 letters in it, yet just adding a couple (small) words puts me over the limit. Whats the deal?

spaces are considered as characters.

The "linkifying" characters, while they do not show in your sig, take up storage space that reduces your 256-character limit, I believe.

When you use links, the [/L] tags are expanded into the full-blown <a href=&quot;http://link.com&quot;>http://link.com</a> HTML get-up, quietly doubling the length of your sig. 🙂
