At the end of each line before the last bracket is an E on the top line and an L on the bottom two, so add in an extra 3 characters to that total

Yes that's what it becomes.
Try this. Instead of doing a "Return" between each item, just do a "space" and run them on one line.
Somewhat like my "sig" is. A "space" only takes up one character space, where a "return" takes four. ;)

You can use IP addresses if you really want to make it fit.

(E=E-Mail)mailto:mike208@hotmail.com(/E)
(L=HEAT)http://209.15.32.184/view.shtml?action=list&option=mikef208(/L)
(L=FS/FT)http://216.151.100.125/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=530365(/L)

replace the parentheses with brackets ;)

Actually using IP address still didn't work, i think only using spaces would shorten it, but AI think it would still be a little long.

yeah, check out the faq:

<< 4. If you get a message stating your signature is too large when updating it, ensure you factor in the HTML it takes to create the link or bold the text you may have in your signature. So if your signature was:

Hey take a look here

That gets translated to:

<a href=&quot;http://www.anandtech.com&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;>here</a>

Please don't ask us to raise the signature limit, as we have no plans to at this time
