I've developed a nasty video problem in EverQuest. Here are some screens.

As the third shows, all the problems are based around a single point on the screen. It goes away if I look straight up, but once I bring the view down, it returns.

This problem began when I switched from XP Home to Pro. I use a Radeon 9800 Pro. Latest drivers, DX9c, etc. I don't see the problem anywhere else.

So is this a sign of a video card going bad, or something else?

man, I dont know, that is a sure sign of overheating ram, I dont think that software would do that but you never know...maybe
you say no probs anywhere else, have you tried other games?

Try playing it with a different card or onboard graphics if you have it.

Other then that, i think it makes the game look kinda pretty :D (see 1st pic) lol

I think something is overheating. Either the video card or ram or cpu. Something.

it is your graphics card, i'm pretty certain. i would wager a overheating issue. i have a 9800xt in one rig, and i have that problem when i overclock it in some games, and it will artifact really bad. also, does it happen in other games? and have you tried omega drivers, to replace the catalyst drivers? see if that makes a difference. http://www.omegadrivers.net/ if you'd like to try them to see what happens.

does not look like an over heating problem. from what i have observed with over heating "artifacts"

looks like a bad ram on the card. i had a card that did a similar thing in 3d aps.

If you have a decent case, removing the cover will only make cooling isuses worse. Now if you remove the cover and point a house fan at the case, that could help.
