Sigma lens and Quantum battery opinions wanted

I made a couple of impulse buys yesterday. I bought the Sigma 28-70 mm f/2.8 DG EX lens and a Quantum Battery 1 Compact. I haven't had a chance to try either yet and I was just wondering if anyone has used either or both and what you think of them. I'll be using the battery pack with a Vivitar 285 HV Thyristor flash and I'm mainly hoping for faster recycle times.

I have to go for now, but I'd appreciate any info any of you might have. Thanks.
