Sigma 4.5mm Release Date set!

Ever since I read the press review of the development of Sigma's 4.5mm f/2.8 lens in November I knew it would be a sweet lens, and I couldn't wait for it to come out. Now that the release date has been set, I'm saddened to see that the MSRP is $1400!!! Amazon has it for only $899.99.

I was thinking of getting the Canon 10-22mm next, but I don't know now. FYI, this is the first 180 degree circular fisheye lens designed specifically for APS-C size digital SLR cameras (equivelent to the 8mm prime for 35mm bodies).

MSRP on sigma lenses are always insane. if you look them up and compare street prices, you'll notice a vast difference.

this lens should be quite interesting. not something i would want to own, but a fun rental.

I would imagine that the 10-22 would be much more practical and useful for a wider range of shots than this lens.

That lens is way too limited in its application to be worth $900.

The same could be said about the 1200mm Canon lens/telescope we were discussing earlier, but they both still have interesting possibilities. I wouldn't buy either one but I wouldn't mind having a chance to play around with them for a while. 🙂

That's my thoughts exactly! It will never replace panoramics, but it would be interesting to own.
