So, My contract ended yesterday. I knew about it for a month, so that was alright. My consulting company had assured me that my base pay would not be affected at all. I would still be able to receive my bi-monthly check while they found another contract for me. a term they referred to as "on the bench", which from what i hear is a common thing in consulting firms.

But, alas, that is not the case, I was terminated today. :(

Kinda bummed, i was planning on being with this company for a few years too.

though, on the bright side, i called a recruiter that i have worked with in the past and we have meeting on Monday afternoon to discuss possibilities and openings for me. Who knows, this could be a blessing in disguise. Or my financial ruin. Only time will time....

Hey look at the bright side, at least you saved 15% or more on car insurance by switching to Geico.

I'd never feel comfortable as a full time contractor unless I had 6 months savings in the bank. Hopefully you'll have learned a lesson.

Thankfully, I have that. And since I was a full-time employee of my former company, I now qualify for unemployment (at least i should).

Well, since you switched to Geico and are going to be staying at a Holiday Inn Express already... go get some Subway and it'll be OK.
