I was expecting a delivery from UPS today (
on their tracking system, it said that the package
was supposed to be delivered today). Well, it has
not arrived and has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
However, I check the tracking info and it said that
they had tried to deliver at 10:51 AM and nobody was
home. Uhhmm, I WAS home, and nobody showed up!
(I was not in the shower or anything). So, did the UPS
driver just say screw it and just lied that nobody was home
or what? Has this ever happened to anyone else here?

Was it ground or a specific day (2day, etc).

If it's ground it doesn't matter if they tried or not, they aren't bound to have it to you anything before 9 days (I think 9).

They may have just gotten the wrong place, or didn't have time and just put it as tried to show it as being returned to the station. Just keeping track of it rather than actually tried to deliver it.

UPS ground does NOT gurarantee delivery dates for residential adresses. Basically, you may have a scheduled delivery, but if the driver has a busy route you may get passed over. Its not necessarilly a lie, just they have better paying customers.

If its ground and delivered to a residential address, UPS couldn't care less when you get it or in what condition it arrives.

And as for them saying its delivered, since the driver gets to go home as soon as all packages in the truck were attempted/delivered, maybe he wanted a shorter day and just checked off "attempted" on a few of the residential packages.

They can't even be bothered to verify addresses most of the time, so really, don't expect too much when dealing with UPS at a residential location. However, if you are dealing with UPS on behalf of a business, its a whole different ballgame and they magically become nice and actually want your business. Really amazing.

Or just have them delivered to your work... Always someone there to sign for it, and fewer flying boxes.

That sh|t happens to me all the time!!! So I finally called the 1800 PICK UPS (today in fact) and they told me my driver was doing what they call "cheating"... I tried to get a package delivered twice and both times I never received it - but then I got a post card that said 3 delivery attempts. The lady that I talked to said the driver only tried once.

Today.. I got a UPSnote on the outside of my gate (my apartment building has a gate - but it's never locked) which said the driver tried to deliver at 4:50pm today.. I was home, taking a nap... never heard the doorbell or door knock from the UPS man.. but heard the knock from the neighbor when they needed to borrow a wine opener (which woke me up) and I heard the three phone calls (which also woke me up)... Plain out - the UPS guy didn't even try to deliver.
