I wanted a car alarm, so I looked around online, found one I wanted, and got it for $60, which is a steal for it's $200 going price elsewhere.
It gets here, and basically it says that if you want any kind of warranty or insurance deduction, you need to have an authorized dealer install it, so I called Audiovox and asked for a list of Oregon authorized dealers. I got one in salem, drove up there, and they said it'd be $190 to install it due to the fact that it doesn't have a door actuator (everything else in the cost was labor). That was kind of high to me, so I bought the actuator parts only ($15) and decided to install that & save $75 in labor, but now the authorized store in Eugene will NOT install the alarm because they don't carry that alarm right now. There's a manual for a reason! They are an authorized dealer and they won't install an alarm? hah!
So I'll probably end up going back up to salem and coughing up $175 to install it unless I want to buy a different alarm alltogether, which would be pointless! 🙁
