Sigh.. question about guest->host connection.

after recently moving to france, ive had to switch to ADSL. im really mad right now at a point u wouldn't believe, nothing works.

ive made a guest->host connection thing but out of 15 cat-5's that i have, only one seems to work and its a 2 foot cable..

i want to move my computer 25 feet away from the host computer...

why dont my other cat-5's work? is there a special cat-5 needed for this to work? not to mention i just F*ASKLJDSJDLKASJDKLAJSDJASDJASD

fried my modem w/ gay the voltage LAKSJDLSAD
