Ok.

Basically, Ive tested my HD on sandra and I get a value of around 15000.
There are some people with literally the same system as mine who get around 20000+ ! How?
They tell me I have to uninstall the VIA drivers, but I cant find anywhere to do that.

Would someone please explain to me whats going on ? :( I dont know why my HD is underperforming. I have the 4.29 VIA drivers and 370 HPT drivers on. My HD is a IBM Deskstar 45 GB 75GXP. I have 4 partitions of C D E and F.

Help help help

Haha! Sandra is a DIRTY PIECE OF SH!T

I recently installed 2 Seagate Cheetah 10,000rpm 36gb SCSI Ultra160 drives on my machine.

Sandra says they score ~17,000

Uh-huh.

BTW, I'll bet your scores go WAY UP if you turn Write Cache on for your HD (if it isn't already)

Cool... em... how do u turn up the write cache thing? i tried to do it via the registry but it didnt seem to make a difference.. what was that command again?

Sandra2001 does not support the KT133A chipset yet...check at the bottom of their homepage.

no one cares...
you want higher scores? hack the program...
since thats all you seem to care about...

sandra even says themselves the scores are for your OWN use, and cannot be compared to other machines.

Littleprince, you kinda defeat the objective of what this forum is about.
It seems u aint got anything helpful to tell me on this matter. Why waste your own time writing a futile message ?

You say that Sandra says the results each computer produces is their own. True to an extent.
But when I get around 15000 on a bench for my HD and some other sap with virtually the same system albeit a slower processor but same mobo and hd gets 22000+ i.e nearly 33% faster, you gotta start asking questions.

Any helpful comments on the subject would be appreciated.

heh if it makes u feel any better, my ibm 75gxp 30 gb is getting low sandra and low hdtach scores. the 4.29 via drivers helped my hdtach scores, but not sandra. right now i get about 9-10k on sandra. and before i used to get 23-24k. at first i thought it might be cause i moved to win2k and the drivers were bad.. but now i just think my drive is dying :(

theres been lots of previous threads about sandra and raid, and its stupidity.

i might be sounding like an a$$ but only because you ackknowledge its a dumb benchmark and yet you want the score.

i think if you took a step back, you would realize how stupid that sounds.
its like my stupid broken thermometer tells me its 50 degrees celcius in here... but it feels fine... can someone tell me how to fix it?
... who cares would be a gd response....

Yep your right you sound like a a$$ no questioning that.
Second I didnt say Sandra was a poor or great benchmark.
And third, this is a forum where u can ask questions, and lets face it, you yourself said each system gives its own marks etc, and no 2 systems can be exactly the same byte for byte. And just for the record I did have a good look not only here but on 3dfiles.com and viahardware forums with info reguarding to this bench stuff.
I got my answer anyway from the dude who posted before you, seems he has better things to do with his time rather than make lame comments and criticising people where there is no case for criticism in the first place.

To the rest of you. Thanks for your help. I sorted the problem out.

update.. just outta curiousity ran sandra back in 98se again.. got my 23k but my hdtach scores were still the same... odd indeeed
