OK, I came home from work today and my W2K is angry for no reason.

I use this box as a network drive and for ICS. Well nothing was working when I got home. I restarted everything and now the ICS works but I can't get to the W2K drive over the LAN and from the W2K box I can't get out to other drives.

The event log is filled with complaints about DNS errors, DHCP errors, and here's the most common one:

<< The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{D789EAA8-448A-4D2A-A696-AEAA62B718422} >>

I tried pulling and reinstalling both NIC's (one for LAN and one for DSL) and swapping out the NIC for the LAN, no dice.

Any ideas before I'm forced to do my bimonthly "format C:"?

I would go to the Network properties page and uninstall Netbeui and TCPIP. THen reinstall and see if you can "reset" them to original. I had this problem once and the issue ended up being that the MS driver for the LAN card was flakey. I dwnlded a newer dvr and i was back up running.

Thanks for the help guys.

I tried removing all network related hardware and software to start from scratch (thinking that a driver is corrupted and would be reinstalled upon reinstalling the networking). No dice.

I see a format in my future.... :)

sounds like a bug. Make sure you have all the lastest drivers and patches for everything.
