Sigh - let's talk about the CM590 vs. Antec Solo

So in the CM90 I have now:

E8400
8800gts
3x 320 HD
GA-EP35-DS3L
1x120mm in front, one in back and an Antec 140mm on the side

I THINK I like this case - but the Antec Solo intrigues me more and more. My last case was a p180 and I really like the "solid" feel that it had. Would I be better off with the Solo? I can get one for the same price as I got this 590 for (~$65) so I'm trying to figure out the better option.

Can anyone who has had both cases chime in?

If you really want to do it, go ahead and do it but I usually listen to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. The Solo, IMO, is a lot smaller. The CM590 is a long ass case.

The Solo is compact relative to the 590 - I like a case with elbow room.

Why not, get a Solo and I can take the 590 off your hand :] I personally worked with a few cases Solo's size, didn't like it, too small. Love to exchange to a larger case like P182 etc. Longer the easier and more room to cool the components.

I'm within the return time period for the CM590. I'll get some pics up as to why I'm not in love with it.

I just picked up a 590 and am not impressed with the workmanship. I have used Antec and Ultra cases and they are better made.

Definitely let us know why the 590 isn't working for you. IMO, the Solo looks rather bland/cheap from the photos and as mentioned above, it's rather small. I have the CM690 and I really like the case. Lots of room for working inside the case, routing cabling and good airflow... same would go for the CM590.

My side panel on the 590 didn't line up initially. Then I removed the lock mechanism screwed into the back of the case and now the panel does line up. Let us know if that's the issue.

That's a part of it, yes.

On the left side of the case, which is the side panel you would take off to access the innards, there's a small gap, maybe 1/4 of an inch between in and the front panel plastic. The blue LED shines through said gap and drives me bananas.

Damn that's a pretty big gap. Mine doesn't have a gap...you should probably return it and get a new one then.

That is a big gap. You could try to exchange it, but you bought online it could be a bit of a hassle. Luckily, everything lines up pretty well on my CM690... only a slight gap (1/16") where the right-side panel meets the front.
