Sigh... I guess I'm done with WoW now...

There were a bunch of realms that were available for transfer to Mug'thol, posted on the main page of worldofwarcraft.com, great. All my guildies and RL friends transfered and told me to do so. I couldn't get to a computer with WoW on it over the weekend so I couldn't clear my mail (a requirement to transfer).

It was officially supposed to be finished on Feb 1st, but they closed on Jan 29th. Even on Jan 31st there was no update on worldofwarcraft.com that they were closed or would be closing early. Only on the forums was it posted that it got closed early. Reading that post, I know I wasn't the only one affected and got "seperated" from everyone they play with.

I never read their forums and didn't even know about that post until my friend linked it for me. It's buried in a bunch of stickies that I don't think I would have saw if I just skimmed the forums. (thread here)

Reading the thread I see that someone called in and got their characters transfered. I tried to do the same, but the CSR said that it was doubtful that it would happen and he has to send a request to a character specialist to do it. We'll see what happens.

This really sucks. Lack of communication on Blizzard's part, not sticking with set dates. I had 2 level 60s on my account, but with no one to play with on my realm now. I'm done with WoW for good.

Enough of my rambling. Thanks Blizzard, for nothing. :|

Not sure which realm you were coming from, but there was a mass exodus from Archimonde and the difference is night and day on this new server. Aside from the 1000+ queue, Mug'Thol is a dream to play on. They are re-opening transfers from Mug'Thol to Archimonde because so many left.

I'd suggest you keep pounding at CSR, because many have been screwed by Blizzard's lack of notice as well.

I'm currently on Archimonde.

But really, I don't care as much. I really did stop playing hardcore back in the summer. Once I hit 60, I pretty much stopped playing regularly. I have both a 60 priest and warlock so you can imagine that my friends do want me to raid with them. Maybe it's best that Blizzard doesn't get anymore of my money. They've collected hundreds from me already.

I thought it'd be nice to have the choice to return, especially if they come out with an expansion.

They are coming out with an expansion, but no set date, I've heard rumour of it being later this year.

Maybe in the future they can set up transfers where you do it as a guild/group. "Take all of us or none of us." But support / customer service for WoW has never impressed me, what do you expect from such a cash-strapped MMO :p As for avoiding the forums there, can't say I blame you. Yikes, what a cesspool (for a large part).

Good luck though man, keep contacting them for a transfer so they can see that it's important to you. Hopefully you won't get lost in the shuffle of the other 4,999,999 customers. Maybe if your buddies requested this from their end too it would help? Though I picture you getting moved to their new server, and them getting moved back to your old one. Heh.

Here's my response from Blizzard

Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment regarding your World of Warcraft account. Character transfers from realm-to-realm are occasionally available for limited times, from specific high population realms to predetermined low population realms. These windows of availability are subject to change, often on short notice. In order to find the most up to date information, please visit our website at www.WorldofWarcraft.com or our forums http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/.Unfortunately, the current transfer made available from select PvP realms to the new PvP realm Mug'thol has ended, and there is no way to transfer characters onto that realm at this time.Customized realm-to-realm transfers are not available at this time. We are aware of the demand for such a feature, and we do have plans to offer a fee based character transfer service in the future. Currently we do not have a time frame on when this will be available or additional information; such as prices for this service.
Please keep an eye on our website at www.WorldofWarcraft.com for more information as it becomes available.

Customer satisfaction is a top priority here at Blizzard Entertainment, and we would like your feedback on the level of service you have received. Please feel free to provide such feedback at the following web address: http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=eSu...2006%2012:24:26%20PM&t=myemail@SHAW.CA

My response

Hi Jason,

Thanks for getting back to me.

My main beef with this whole situation is that the realm transfers were closed early as I tried to do it a couple days ago. This was not communicated on the home page of worldofwarcraft.com. Even after the realm transfers were closed the home page still stated the original date which was February 1st.

I did try to do it a couple days ago, but because it was closed early I wasn't able to do it. But only learned that I could call customer service about this issue today.

This really is a major downer for me. I have 2 level 60 characters on Archimonde and all of my guild mates and real-life friends transferred over. I really do have no reason to play anymore as the people I did play with are separated from me now.

You can see in the thread here http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-general&T=6846933&P=1 that I was not the only one to be impacted by the date change. In that thread, you'll see that there's evidence that even GMs though the transfers were still good till February 1st

If there really is nothing you can do, I'm glad my account is expiring tomorrow. I was really looking forward to the expansion but now the game is pointless to me.

Benjamin Wan

Let's see what kind of reply I'll getting. I'm not optimistic that anything positive will be done.

I think this is a phone call type situation. A disgruntled customer on the phone is harder to blowoff than one on e-mail.

Out of curiosity, what guild/char were you on archimonde?

I was a level 60 Alliance Priest - WobbleWobble
My bro played a level 60 Alliance Warlock - Tolaria

I was originally part of Riders on the Storm which merged with Bananas in Pajamas. Most of the members were from New Orleans so when Katrina hit, many guild members left. Most of my RL friends moved to other guilds (for some reason I can't remember) but I stayed in BiP. BiP is pretty much staying but I really do prefer to play with my RL friends.

I'm reading that other people have also called, but haven't had any luck. Apparently the phone call transfer cut-off was yesterday.

FWIW there are reports of 90 minute queues with 1000+ people on mugthol.

On second thought... I dunno... might be a good time to just let WoW go.

No homey, just teasing about the in-game names. But whatever's fun for you is cool.

What's wrong with my name? :p

Bananas in Pajamas wasn't my choice. I wanted to keep our original guild name Riders on the Storm. But their guild was slightly bigger so we bowed to them.

The response is going to be that in the coming months they're going to be releases a Pay Transfer Service where you can pay (amount isn't set, but rumoured anywhere between $20-$50 per transfer) for a transfer from any server to another.

It's all over the WoW forums, so I can almost guarantee that's the response they're going to give him. I'm glad I play on a fairly low populated server, still with a fair number of people but never had to queue to connect, and the longest I've waited for a BG was 10 minutes.
