As some of you may know, I was made redundant a couple of months ago. I guess it was because of the economy. I work in IT, and I normally do contract work for clients. One of our big clients went belly up so my company couldn't afford to keep me on the payroll. Sucks I know, but alot of other people are in the same boat so I try not to get too mad at what happened.
I I've saved up a little nest so I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck. Some of my friends are, and its tough to see them in their situation. Its even tougher to say no to lending them some cash cause I know I might need it in the future. My savings are now only in the hundreds, and I need to pay my mortgage and support my two young children and wife.
Anyways, fast forward to this week, I've finally found a new job (which explains why I haven't been posting much lately). Its a helpdesk job, like my last one, and we serve some big clients. I'm suprised I even got this job with the way the economy is going south. The particular team I am in is quite busy so I guess they needed an additional staff member.
The problem is that some of the other teams have less work to do and there's some rumours that theres going to be job cuts. I think these guys are delibrately trying to sabotage me since I'm the new kid on the block. Half my system passwords don't work, even though I've asked many times, they don't seem to be interested in helping me. My phone hasn't been working ever since I got here, which is really hampering my productivity since I am meant to help solve problems over the phone as part of my job description. On top of that, I think I am being intentionally left out of e-mail chains, and issues are getting escalated to my boss without me getting a chance to solve the problem.
I have been logged to a task for one of our client's employees. I'm really getting stressed over this, since it'll look really bad if I don't fix this in the allocated time, considering we are an external helpdesk provider. Problem is, I don't know who the contact person is for this job and my boss has taken a week of absence to be with his wife (she just gave birth last Thursday). My teammate said he left a voicemail with the client and they will call me back. I told him my phone wasn't working, he told me to go get it fixed. But nobody will help me fix my phone, they keep forwarding my requests to other people. As I said, I think my teammate is close friends with the other guys and they are all trying to sabotage me.
I can't bear to lose this job. I want my kids and wife to live comfortably, I don't want to fail them. I'm meant to look after them, but it seems like my hands are cut off and I can't control the situation. What should I do ATOT? Should I confront my teammates?
I hope the client gets in contact with me through e-mail, he or she could save me from potentially (and likely) losing my job.
Thanks in Advance,
Ron
