Don't get a Ranger or a V6 Mustang. The V6 is a wussy mustang, and the Ranger's a wannabe F-150. Get either the Mustang GT or the F-150. I'd just as soon drive a Focus as a V6 Mustang, and I'd much rather have an Escape than a Ranger.

I'd recommended against beying a new ford. Those things depreciate like crazy. Get a 2k3 model with some 10k on the clock and save an assload. Also i would definitely go for an f150 truck wise, my stepbro has a ranger and those thigns are tiny.(think ford escape with a flat bed in the back)

OOPS! Now I want one those. Dammit. I can afford whatever I want. I feel confident that I can get a good deal on the Mustang, but there is a $3000 rebate on the Ranger.

Now I am stuck. What to get?

Oh, and when I do decide on what I want, what is a fair price for this car?

I have done my research. I have the invoice price, invoice price with options($19,595), and the dealer hold back is about $700. What else will I need to negotiate an good price for car?

I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but my X-plan price for an Auto V6 like the one your looking at is $19,434.00.

If you go with a Ranger you can basically steal it from Ford. The thing is so old and outdated you can almost name a price and if they really want to sell it, they'll sell it for that price.

Do not buy the v6 mustang. In about 8-9 months, the used car market is going to flooded with the first batch of fleet cars...and shortly after, your car will be worth very little. V8s will fare better. Do not buy used Fords other than the f150 or larger pickups.

Mustang GT....poor gas mileage, but stylish exterior/interior....plenty of hp as well

But i would consider getting a japanese/german car over American

What the hell kind of advice is that?!

Because unless you are buying a private-party vehicle with a known history, the bulk of low mileage used vehicles are coming from fleet sales (ie rental, government, businesses etc.) which are subject to abuse.

The larger Ford trucks are built much better, heavier duty powertrain components, suspensions, etc. and will hold up better.

A V-6 Mustang is an insult to your manhood. Either Pony Up, (pun intended) and get a sports car (V-8), or get the Ranger. At least you can haul stuff in the Ranger. You can't haul anything in a V-6 Mustang. You can haul @ss in a V-8 Mustang GT.

One of the car rags tested an 05 V6 auto mustang and performance wise it's a huge step up now. They got like 15.3 or something, which is pretty respectable. They said it's only a couple tenths off from the old V8 auto.

Assuming this is no fluke of course. As much as I'd like to point and laugh at how slow and sorry V6 mustangs are, it may not be the case anymore.

What's the world coming to if we can't make fun of V6 mustangs?:(:(
