Yeah, I'd say a job is the first priority. Then contact them about a scholarship maybe? I don't know anything about NYU, but many colleges give away buttloads of scholarships.

Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard. Uncle Sam'll give you insane amounts of money for school.

loans, loans, and more loans. i'm currently grad student at NYU, borrowing $65k a year from both stafford and sallie mae.

BA is right. The Armed Forces want your creative mind to do their work. They will give you large lumps of cash to do their deeds. The best, for the best.

Edit: Also, IMO, there's no one more respectable in my mind, than a man/woman who spent their life dedicated to fight for what they believe in. I'm going ROTC, prolly.
