Shameful flame fest

This is just the most recent in a rash of useless, tiring flamefests that continually flare up in GH. It's making that board stink to high heaven. GH used to have some really intelligent discussions, but now that is fast dissappearing. An indicator of this decline is the departure of Patrick Mahoney (PM) which was a great loss to Anandtech in general.

I think there are just too many immature posters who use the microprocessor inside their PC as an extension of their phalli.

I guess the nVidia vs 3Dfx zealotry has simply been transferred to Intel vs. AMD. I am probably the last person to advocate censorship, but I think it would be beneficial if mods just locked threads that even started to turn into flamefests. What do you guys think?

it is starting to get out of hand...but like any ford vs chevy..sega vs nintendo back in the old 16 bit days...its a rivalry that will never cease and will continue to be fueled by the flames of each companies respective fanboys.

I don't know what the flamefests are over... AMD nor Intel is a major player in the market. You guys are just wasting your time. Try a Cyrix chip someday, it'll blow your mind!

I don't mind a bit of heated discussion but go to that thread I linked and look at the proliferation of name-calling and personal attacks. It does nothing to further the community. There are a few useful posts that compare prices on the two platform but that little bit of signal is drowned out by far too much noise.

I'd much rather look at three or red locked threads so I can look for some worthwhile posts.

You got a good point there. It got really nasty in that thread... What was foolish about that post was that many of us are unwilling to spend $2000+ on a PC so they were debating an issue that really didn't matter to anyone other than the AMD & Intel zealots.

<< to each his own >>

I agree 100% so don't litter up GH with stupid threads that don't covert anybody. Everyone reading the thread is either a zealot or just having a laugh. Either way, it's a waste of valuable server CPU time.

I ignore them.

As if anyone really knows.

Let's see, for a flamefest here, I suggest: Evolution vs. creation, abortion and women's rights, gun control . . .
