I was hoping I could play Falcon 4.0 when I visit my mother. It's a Celeron+810 (it's NOT MINE, HONEST ;)). The Voodoos look like the best PCI cards, but they're getting @#$% hard to find, and the prices on what's left may even be going UP! People who bought bargain Celerons, but bought some games because they BELIEVED the boxes about hardware requirements, should be a large market-SOMEONE should be able to make money there, shouldn't they? I'm sure I saw a list showing that the Voodoo3 was the top selling vidcard, at least in the retail market:confused:

All bad things must come to an end.
PCI video cards. 3dfx V3 16bit 3d.
But, you can get a GeForce2 MX in PCI flavors.
It also does 3d in 32bit!
Switching from a V3 to a GF2 MX, is a HUGE improvement.

Get yourself a PCI Voodoo 5 Card. They go for only $200 Canadian... that's about $130 US. You definetly need a CPU+MB upgrade. My sister has a Celery+810 combo and it stinks! Invest in an KT133a board and a Duron/TB and you'll be set! Peace out.

I just got an email from Hercules:

The MX Family keeps growing!

PCI or AGP, now the MX Family meets any users graphic needs. Following in the popular 3D Prophet? II MX 32 MB's footsteps, Hercules has taken the quality and performance our customers have experienced with the MX, and have added the 3D Prophet? II MX - PCI and the 3D Prophet? II MX 64 MB.

The MX - PCI offers all the industry pleasing 3D Prophet? II MX qualities - but for PCI needs and if 32 MB just doesn't do it for you, then the GeForce2 MX? powered MX card can now be found in 64 MB format.

MX - PCI and MX 64 MB, two more ways to enjoy total graphic performance.

SleepyGuy,

if he upgrades to a KT133A board he won't have to buy a PCI video card anymore. You shouldn't tell him to buy a V5 PCI and a KT133 as well. ;) I think i810 + V5 PCI wouldn't be that bad (and it's cheaper) because the Voodoo cards don't use the AGP features anyway so there's only a marginal performance hit.

Yes, switching from V3 to MX is a big improvement... if you're smoking crack, or find fuzzy text reassuring in some way. ;)

LevcoS,
You are just the type of person I was hoping to find!

I have a 3dfx V3 3000 AGP, never overclocked, in same as new condition, FULL RETAIL, in original box, with TV out, that I would be willing to trade to some poor sucker that bought a GF2 MX card with it's fuzzy text, also in same as new condition! I will even pay shipping on both cards. Since as you say, MX does not give a performance boost over the V3 unless you smoke crack, so you must either own an MX for comparison, or know a crack smoking sucker with bad eyes that bought one. I'll ship next day air, so let me know ASAP!
Thanks.
