my sig:
[ [L = Rig]http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?rigid=5093[ / L] | [L = CS/Web/Ftp Server]http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?rigid=5091[ / L] | [L = Car MP3 player]http://amp.mp3car.com[ / L] ]
(12 spaces added)

word says its 193 characters with spaces

the profile pages says 'max 255 characters'

when i try to add even 3 characters, it gives me:
"Signature has exceeded the maximum length of 255 characters."

As you can see, my sig is not very long... mods, can i get a longer sig?

I don't understand how Fusetalk counts characters either... my sig also has trouble with the limits because of the URL's.

It would be nice to be able to have a longer sig. (as long as it is adjustable in Fusetalk)

the problem is that it turns the url into html, and counts the html characters. Signature length is supposed to be increased in version 3.0, but it's not even something the mods can change (only Zuni can 😉). Here's one option: User fewer letters. Remove "server".

It expands the special symbol code into HTML, that's why it's longer than it looks. To check for yourself (& see how close you are) try typing out your signature exactly how you want it to appear in a reply in this thread. Then after you reply, go in and View->Source, copy/paste all the HTML into your word program and it will give you an accurate count.

oh man :-/
i wanted to put the confused icon in there ( 😕 ) but that will add a whole lot of characters
that icon makes me crack up every time i see it

heck not even administrators can chage the sig size in the current fusetalk version. (/me is running a test server at the moment)
