Sig lengths....it's lying to me!

I was trying to update my sig, which was mostly links, and when I went to update it - I was told that I had exceeded 255 characters. I even double checked it in word, and it was 251 chars. I even deleted a bold tag to bring it down a little, and it still told me I was over the limit - why must it lie to me? 🙁

because html requires more characters than you are seeing, and since your sig is mostly links, you are using up all your characters in html.
 
Similar thing happened to me. I'd wanted to put 3 links in my sig and the system said I was over the 255 char limit for my measely little one-line sig (*cough*rig-sigs*cough*). I cut and pasted the sig into Word and did a word count. 249 characters.

No big deal as far as my situation goes. Only thing I like to keep in my sig at the moment is a references link for dealing in the FS/FT forum.
 
same here.. I only have 1 link in my sig, I tried a second and it says too many characters.

it would be nice if it excluded links as counting towards your characters
