SIF Files

I created a file with a text editor and wanted to change the extension to .sif. The icon should appear much like the Windows setup one. When I did not get this I tried various other things all without success (using command prompt instead of righ-click to change the file extension) and wondering if anyone has done this and if so how? The file in question is an answer file used when performing an unattended installation of an OS.
