Sierra Snowboard and Sierra Skis are having a 50 - 70% or more off sale on all 2009 (and earlier) clothing, boots, accessories and select snowboards, skis and bindings. Free shipping on $100+ orders, otherwise it depends on the items you order.

I found that if there are only one or two items left in stock the price will very often change to 80% off. I found this out the hard way as I had added a couple of these 80% off items to my shopping cart, and they were sold off under me as I was taking my time to look at other stock.

Lots of great brands available - Burton, Arbor, Nitro, Tecnica, Lange, Salomon, K2, Dynastar, Roxy, Fischer, Head, Atomic, Bonfire, Special Blend, Foursquare, Orage, etc. Still lots of sizes and stock available.

Good reputation online retailer with a B&M store in Sacramento, CA (so you will pay tax only if you live in CA :brokenheart🙂

Sierra Snowboard Sale

Sierra Ski Sale

Yeah, this is one sale that I look forward to every year though I don't ski as much as I used to and keep equipment for a long time.

My boots literally disintegrated this past season and I was waiting to get a replacement pair but I had no excuse with this sale. Got my Christmas shopping for clothes done early as well!

One other thing with the Sierra site is that if you are logged on to their forum/chat at 6P EST/3P PST you have a chance to win snowboards and such. The guy giving the stuff away takes his time to spin the wheel to make the award, but the gear he is giving away is pretty nice. Yesterday he was giving away two very nice snowboards if there were more than 500 people logged in. There weren't so he only gave away one Burton Forum snowboard. Odds of winning vary but it is usually 200-300 to 1, so not bad odds if you have time and the interest to be logged in.

What's a good board for a beginner thats decent?

Edit: Forgot how much shit was needed just to snowboard... talk about investment.

How much of a beginner? I tell everyone I teach that if they're excited and really want to buy something, the first thing you should get is boots, and then experiment with different sizes when renting board/bindings.

I also tell them not to invest in a board until they can turn toeside and heelside.

Good boots and pants are the most important for a beginner. And either bulletproof gloves or cheap ones you won't mind replacing before the season's over.

You can always get a beater board and bindings off craigslist or whatever classifieds are around you, you're just going to thrash them anyway.
