Sidewinder X5 Issue

I have had my Sidewinder X5 mouse for a few years now, regularly used. Recently, the left click isn't responding correctly.

When pressed once, it will either double click, not click at all, or click once as it should. I've re-installed drivers, opened and cleaned it, tried other USB ports. It seems that sometimes clicking harder than normal will get it to click, or double lick, more often than a normal light press.

Has anyone else had similar trouble? I'm sure it's likely I just need a new one, but before I replace it, I'd like to know if there is anything else I could try.

Sounds like a mechanical switch is failing. Unless you can buy and install the switch for less than the cost of a new mouse, it's time to replace it.
